Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
'Why don't you love me' by Beyonce. The genre to this was Pop and RnB. I think that my music video both goes against and is the conventions of the genre. Although both of the genres are quite different in what you expect froma music video i think we incorporated well in the media products.
Rnb is generally narrative and was what the music video we made was. It was the artist telling her story though her point of view and her side of the story, Whereas, in Pop it was usually someone dancing and having fun.
In the first scene it goes against the RnB genre convention, this is because seeing stop motion isn't what is seen in music videos in RnB, becasue we usually seeing a lengthy amount of footage and not cut up in sections. But ways that it does go with the conventions is that the artist is the centre of focus in this, also the music video does not show the empowerment of women, and that is what is being shown n this footage, she is seen as vulnerable, weak and with no amount of power. This also goes against the Pop genre because of the lack of enthuiasims of want to dance and it quite glum, especially with the dark lighting almost makes the viewer to feel depressed.
The scene which involves the artist and a male companion is differently going againt the RnB conventions and the Pop. Firstly, becuase the tune is quite chirppy and happy this would'nt be expected but we incooperted what would, e.g the use of the flash back to black and white is commonly used but the ways the characters acted wasnt. The reason why we wanted to go against it is that we felt it would be more intresting to see it like this and also it would be more intresting to see the other side of their relationship on a happier not than constant conflict. We chose to use that perid of tie with the music because it best reflected how they felt, which was happy and careful at that moment.
This part that goes aginst the conventions is the use of the split screen when they are in the classroom. The use of this was to show two shots of them being together and basically emphasising her pain. Another time we used it was when the couple were arguing and then they ent their separate way, using split-screen here was to show the different paths they are walking on and the differnce between what they want and reality to add drama and the sense of the loninsess.

Evaluation Question 3
I have gained may forms of feedback during the whole course of the production of my media project music video and the final product as well, the feedback which was received had a massive effect on the final look. All the feed back i have received during the production of the music video and i have been posting it on the blog, this has helped me to track my progress.
http://prezi.com/-qz07t46ko14/my-music-video-presentation/
The feed back, was that they like the idea of obsession and the dark mystery but also, they like the stop motion at the beginning, to show the young lady as vulnerable fragile but also disrupted. The use of stop motion also emphasises on the emotion felt, but was wondering how it was done
They also said that they liked the idea of spilt screen to show different emotions that the same person has, and the two things going on at the same time appearing. So with this we decided to use this more than once in our music video.
Anamatic:
After this we did an anamatic, when completed we presented it to the class, we did this by
Positive Feedback:
- The element which was part of my music video that people liked the most was that the element of emotion and vulnerability was shown thought out. This with the close up of their faces and the time of music with the actions
- Also they also liked the part of the music where the musical would be shown in black and white to show a flash back, they said it was effective because when they were together it was like a life time away. With this feedback, it allows me to think of trying to put more of different types of elements into and by taking that risk will allow us to be more confident.
- Also, when asking people what they felt what the music video was about, they all came up with mostly different meanings, which was what one of the main aims was about. One person said it was mainly about being obsessed with a boy, another said that it was mainly about thinking your in love and another said, that girls need to be more stronger and less dependent
- With the element of having split screen in the shot, it shows both characters reaction and not just the main character, this shows the other feelings of the character, thus also relating to more people. Also, having a different shot type allowed it to be more dynamic.
Negative Feedback
- They said that there was not a variety shots which was shown,it was not rich enough and we needed to incorporate more into the music video, by doing this we are more able add more emotion and fright into the video and also a more of a chance for people to relate to the video.
- They also realised that some of the shots were too long, and this makes the viewer lose interest and begin to start to get bored. So to make it more interesting we are going to add more shots and more variety to it.
- There was a lot of confusion with the order of shots because of the back and forth action with them being happy and then them arguing and breaking up, which almost let them baffled.
In class I had present my first draft of my music video to my fellow classmates and say what they liked and disliked about my music video
Negatives:
Negatives:
- Most of the shots used in the music video were longer in comparison with the beat of the music, so to improve this, making a scene with her singing the music in a different setting could be used within the longer shots
- Some of the shot the actors come out of the shot slightly, and it was said that it loses impact on the action thought the shots
- Also, during the arguing shots, the use of close ups would be better, because its shows more emotion and action in the music video.
- We should make the part where we first used the spilt screen shot and use it for a longer period of time
Positives:
- They like the black and white scenes, they said that it was humorous and really effective to show that what was filmed was a very long time ago, almost a life time away.
- Also, they really enjoyed the editing techniques used in the frame, it was very dramatic and creative
- Another point was that they like the stop motion used at the end, it was really effective in showing the uneasiness and the addiction in her.
- Also, they liked the shot in the bathroom where she is singing, the part that they enjoyed the most was the use of the mirror to show her reflection
Then we showed the last product of the music video to the class, after this point no further work was done to this. We collected two sets of feedback. One from what we posted on the Internet through Facebook and YouTube, but from thus we only collected from Facebook because no one gave us feedback from YouTube.
The feedback from Facebook:
